How the audit reads your site.

Five questions, asked in the order an AI system meets your website. 41 checks answer them. Every one is named here and explained on its own page.

  1. AI Access

Can AI crawlers reach your site at all? We read your robots.txt and your response headers.

    10 checks
  2. AI Discovery

Can an AI system find the pages that matter? We read your llms.txt and your sitemap.

    11 checks
  3. Content Understanding

Do your pages say what they are? We read titles, descriptions, headings and the delivered HTML.

    8 checks
  4. Machine-Readable Data

Does your structured data name your organisation, and does it parse? We read your JSON-LD.

    8 checks
  5. Answer Readiness

Can an AI system quote your site safely, and can an agent act on it? We read your policies and endpoints.

How the score works.

One number from 0 to 100, a verdict in plain words, and the reasoning underneath it.

Weights
30% AI Access30% AI Discovery15% Content Understanding15% Machine-Readable Data10% Answer Readiness Access and discovery lead. A site an AI system cannot reach or navigate gains nothing from the rest.
Warnings
A warning earns half credit. The capability exists, but something about it is wrong.
Skips
A check that cannot judge your site does not count for it or against it. It is not a pass and not a failure.
The access gate
If your robots.txt blocks all five AI crawlers we test, the score is capped at 40 and the report says so at the top. We report readiness. We do not judge the policy.
Standing
Your report says how your score compares with the other sites audited here, and how the rest of the web handles each check you failed.

What is free.

Scored against the web, not a checklist.

7.21% of 999,839 ranked domains publish an llms.txt. Every audited domain joins the llms.txt Registry, so each finding on your report comes with what the rest of the web does.

Questions

Is the AI Readiness Audit free?

Yes. The score and every finding are free and need no account. The fix for each finding, a re-check once you have shipped it, and a dashboard that keeps the report come with a free account. Paid plans add deep page-level crawls and score history.

Is this an llms.txt checker?

Yes, and more. The audit checks whether your llms.txt exists, whether it follows the format, how many links it holds, whether those links work, and how large the file is. It also reads your robots.txt, your sitemap, your page metadata, your structured data and your policies. Every check has its own page that explains exactly what we test.

Which AI crawlers do you check?

GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot from OpenAI, ClaudeBot from Anthropic, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended. We read your robots.txt the way each crawler does. If all five are blocked, the score is capped at 40 and the report says why.

Does a good score help me rank on Google?

No, and we will not tell you it does. Google Search does not read llms.txt. The audit measures how ready your site is for AI systems and agents: whether they can reach it, find what matters, understand it, and quote it safely.

Do I need to own the site I audit?

No. The audit reads only public files: robots.txt, llms.txt, the sitemap, the homepage and a few linked pages. You can audit a competitor or a client. Without an account you can run a handful of audits an hour.

How long does the audit take?

Most audits finish in a few seconds. Every check reads from one shared set of fetches, so the audit does not get slower as we add checks. The report shows exactly how long yours took.

Is this an AI compliance certificate?

No. There is no published standard for AI readiness, so nobody can certify compliance with one, and we do not claim to. The audit is an observation about your site on a given day, with every check named and every finding explained.

How often should I run it again?

After every fix, and after every deploy. With a free account each finding has a one-click re-check. Paid plans keep the score history, so you can see the score move.
